(Why I don't know.) Before I purchased this It is impossible to hardwire anything to disable the loopback function on the CS4231. So yes, as it's possible to do it on the CS4231, it's possible to do it on the Gravis Ultrasound Max. If you have the regular GUS, then you'll need to modify it with my jumper specs on the gus archive sites. This function is called the digital loopback. All that is needed in your application is to prevent the ADC data going directly to the DAC (and not the other way around like you said. Just disable the digiatl loopback, and you'll be done. This is accomplished by puttin a 0 in the LBE bit of the Loopback Control Register (I13). You also have the possibility of simply attenuating this value with the other bits in the I13 register. If i remember correctly, base address is for teh indirect registers (like I13) for the first 5 bits while the 6th bit must be set. base +1 is for the value. In the case of I13, the lsb is the enable/disable, second bit is unused and the others are the attenuation, where 0= 0dB attenuation and 63=94,5dB attenuation. Hope this helps.
